Covid and Vitamin D3

I have written so many articles on Vitamin D optimization I don’t think I can count them.  And, yet, again, this simple, easy to do solution is an important step in minimizing your risk of Covid 19 and other infections.

As you may have read, Covid seems to be infecting people of darker skin color than others of lighter skin pigmentation. This is because increased levels of skin pigmentation reduce the effectiveness of the suns UVB rays to produce Vitamin D in the body, it acts as a natural sun block. Light skinned people may need only 15 minutes of full sun per day in the summer, but darker skinned people need 1.5 hours for the same effect!

The solution you need to take away is to get your Vitamin D in the sun, or by supplementation, if exposure isn’t an option.

Along with Vitamin D3, you also need to take at least 400 mg of magnesium. This has the effect of boosting absorption of Vitamin D3. You’ll need 147% more Vitamin D3 to achieve a blood level of 40 ng/mL than without it.  Vitamin K2 is also essential. If you’re not taking K2 and magnesium with your Vitamin D3, you’ll need 244% more oral Vitamin D3 to attain this level in the blood.

Get your Vitamin D3 levels checked with a blood test and work at increasing it to the necessary levels. This is the single best health promoting factor in reducing your risk of getting viral infections. Do it today!
