Organic Sulfur - Part 2

Articles by Dr. Erdman are for informational purposes, and are not to be taken as specific medical advice.

In the last article, we started to look at a few of the many benefits of organic sulfur. Today, we will finish this topic with even more benefits of OS, and how and when to take it.

Hesh Goldstein says OS may help with emphysema by providing the body with the material needed to manufacture new healthy cells on the lung walls. There is also good evidence to suggest help with asthmatic cases, even proven to reverse countless cases.

OS makes cell walls more permeable, thereby flushing out toxins more easily and introducing nutrients to the cells more quickly. There are two practical problems this benefit can help overcome, one is hypoglycemia and the other is an alcohol hangover. First, hypoglycemic people can get blood sugar into cells more easily. Less insulin is then necessary for this process, resulting in less overuse of the pancreas. Within several months of using OS, hypoglycemia may be eliminated entirely. Secondly, for all you heathens who drink to excess, using OS causes the body to rapidly reduce and release alcohol toxins, removing them as waste: the process quickens recovery time from a ‘hangover’ to as little as twenty minutes.

Diabetics have significantly lowered or even eliminated the need for insulin by taking OS regularly. OS helps facilitate the production of insulin and regulation of blood sugar.

It helps alleviate PMS by enhancing glandular production. Hormone levels become more evenly balanced facilitating a reduction of cramps, headaches and nausea associated with the monthly cycle.

OS helps the kidneys to function more efficiently. Water retention problems associated with poor kidney function can be alleviated.

And lastly, OS can help with chronic erectile dysfunction. It has been known to completely eliminate the need for the medications associated with ED, effectively reversing the dysfunction when taken regularly over time.

Wow, that is quite a list of benefits, and that isn’t all of them!

Now, I mentioned that organic sulfur is also known as MSM. Technically there is a difference in how you obtain your OS. Hesh Goldstein has introduced a potent, crystallized form of OS made from the lignons of pine trees. There are other OS crystals available from multiple suppliers, but you must be careful. MSM is made from crystals that have been crushed into a powered form and encapsulated. Many of the powdered MSM capsules have lost their potency due to the processing required. When crystals are converted to powder, they lose 85 percent of their effectiveness, says Goldstein. OS should be white and granular, not powered and encapsulated.

Take note that this is white, crystalline organic sulfur, not yellow, powdered mineral sulfur for your garden; big difference!

There are several ways to take the OS crystals. You can dissolve them in water, which makes a fairly bitter drink, but has no real after taste. They say the more bitter you perceive the solution, the more you need OS. The other way is to simply chew them up and follow with a tall glass of non-chlorine and non-fluoride water.
When starting to take OS, you need to work your way up to full dosing. Remember, you are eliminating toxins in the body, and you can feel worse before improving. Start with as little as ¼ teaspoon, two times a day, twelve hours apart. Consistency is a key factor when trying to recover from a particular ailment.  OS needs to be taken for three to six months before some of the serious illnesses start to show signs of good improvement.

The ‘West Coast Project on Organic Sulfur,” at www.organicsulfur-msm.ca  recommends 1 .5 teaspoons per 100 pounds of body weight, twice per day. One teaspoon equals about five grams of OS. More is better, and no toxic levels have ever been demonstrated. One pound is a 30 day supply at a regular maintenance dose, for a 150 pound person in general good health. That is 10g, twice per day.  Another source I read said one tablespoon, two times a day was sufficient for a maintenance dose for a 200 pound person.  Either way, it won’t hurt you, and more is always better in this case.  Heavier people or those with illness concerns like chemo, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and arthritis take substantially more until the illness improves or resolves. There is a lot of information at this site, read it.

From what I have read and understand, there is no relation to OS and sulfa drugs. You are safe to take OS, even if you are allergic to sulfa drugs.

I hope this information will help someone recover from ill health, you’ll never know until you try it.  Let me know if you try it
